My latest creation is a website for the gubernatorial campaign of Peter Shumlin. He’s a man with a lot of political courage and now he has a top notch online presence as well. The website is built on the open source platform Wordpress and is well integrated with all of the social media sites. To top it off we used an installation of phplist – an open source email list management tool – to manage the campaign communications

I did the web development for this site of one of Montpelier’s lobbying and public relations firms. Or in today’s terms Government Affairs and Strategic Communications. The design was done by Scuola Group out of Burlington and the Project Management was handled by Kimbell Sherman Ellis. This was a project that really tested me with where I could go with the Wordpress platform and made me more confident than ever that is is a really powerful and infinitely customizable web platform.

I just had the chance to work on the website of one of Vermont’s up and coming political stars Tim DelaBruere. It was just a quick little wordpress blog with a modified “Probama” theme. Unfortunately he lost by a mere 40 votes.

Vermont News Guy has been a successful and informative blog and is sheeding some light on some serious state issues even in the wake of declining news departments at all of Vermont’s Dailys. A Wordpress with lots of bells and whistles including synchronizing with Twitter and Facebook status to keep everyone up to date.

This website was built using the crowd-sourcing software IdeaScale to plumb the public for issue positions that might be helpful to the political campaign. It got some attention for the campaign by getting written up in an article at Adweek although it never really got enough response.

My first foray into political web sites came when I ran for Governor in 2008. There were some successes, some failures but most importantly I learned a lot. It really was the challenge I was looking for. I even debated the governor. Hey, you don’t do that every day.
